About Groundwater Flood Warnings
The first groundwater flood warning service to offer warnings at a community level with tailored flood action advice.
Background
This Groundwater Flood Warning service was launched in 2024 by Project Groundwater. It was created in partnership with 3 Sided Cube, Jacobs, and the British Geological Survey (BGS). Throughout its creation, our communities had opportunities to provide feedback on the first prototype and suggest features. We will continue to learn from those who experience flooding to improve our flood warning service.

The six-year programme is working with communities in 9 high-risk flood areas of the Chiltern Hills and Berkshire Downs. It is led by Buckinghamshire Council in partnership with five other local authorities and Flood Community Groups. This project is funded by Defra as part of the £200 million Flood and Coastal Innovation Programmes which is managed by the Environment Agency. The programmes will drive innovation in flood and coastal resilience and adaptation to a changing climate. Find out more on theOur Mission
